Description
What Citalopram is used for :
- Citalopram is used to treat depression.
Possible Side Effects :
- Stop using this product and seek immediate medical help if you develop rash; hives; blisters; itching; wheezing; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Serious Side Effects :
- Serotonin syndrome characterized by change in balance; confusion; hallucinations; fever; fast or abnormal heartbeat; flushing; muscle twitching or stiffness; seizures; shivering or shaking; sweating a lot; severe diarrhea, upset stomach, or throwing up; or very bad headache.
- Suicidal thoughts.
- Low sodium levels.
- Bleeding.
- Seizures.
- Irregular heartbeat.
Other medicines and Citalopram:
- Tell your doctor about all the medicines you are taking.
- Taking in combination with a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) can lead to serious, sometimes fatal, reactions.
How to take Citalopram :
- Take this medicine as indicated by your doctor.
- Take this medicine at the same time of the day.
- Do not discontinue this medication suddenly.
- The usual starting dose is 10 or 20 mg once daily. Your doctor may gradually increase it for you.
How to store Citalopram:
- Store at room temperature 68 to 77°F (20 to 25°C).
- Keep this medicine out of reach of children.
- Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the package.
- The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
